Size: Make sure that the tent has enough space for all the people who will be sleeping in it. Also bear in mind that you may need to store luggage and other equipment.
Weight and pack size: If you have to carry the tent, you should choose a model that is as light as possible. The pack size is also important if you have little space available.
Weather resistance: Consider the weather conditions in which you will be using the tent. A canvas tent should be wind and weather resistant. Pay attention to the water column (at least 3,000 mm). This also applies to the tent floor! Multi-walled tents offer additional protection.
Material: Pay attention to the material from which the tent is made. Polyester is durable and weather-resistant, but it is heavy and translucent. Nylon is lighter but less durable. The poles are usually made of fiberglass.
Price: If you only plan to go to a festival or similar once or twice a year, an inexpensive tent costing up to €100 will certainly suffice. However, if you want to camp for several weeks a year, the tent should come from well-known manufacturers such as Salewa, VAUDE or Marmot.
Additional functions: There are throw tents with additional functions such as ventilation systems or integrated rain protection.
